Ministry Of Education Institution’s Innovation Council (MoE-IIC)

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas while they are in formative years.MIC has envisioned creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in these campuses. The primary mandate of Innovation Cell is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by exposing them to new ideas and processes resulting in innovative activities in their formative years fostered through Network of Innovation clubs in Higher Educational Institutions. The major programs that MIC is planning to organize in near future are:

  • Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2020
  • Institution Innovation Council (IIC)
  • Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA)
  • Yukti Innovation Challenge
  • National Innovation and Start-up Policy (NISP) for Students and Faculties

Institutions Innovation Council(OIST-IIC)

Under the guidance of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) at Oriental Institute of Science and Technology was established in the academic year 2018-2019 .The innovation and entrepreneurship promotion and support programs are organised to ensure round the year activities in campus for effective engagement, learning and practicing innovation and entrepreneurship among student and faculty community. Ideally, Institution Innovation Council is a faculty led but student centric body formed by the institute with active representation of entrepreneurial faculties, students and expert’s representations from regional ecosystem enablers, pre-incubation and incubation centres within and outside the institute.


Objective

  • To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bound fashion.
  • TIdentify and reward innovations and share success stories.
  • TTo organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
  • TNetwork with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
  • TOrganize Hackathons, idea competition, mini-challenges etc. with the involvement of industries.
