Ministry Of Education Institution’s Innovation Council (MoE-IIC)

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas while they are in formative years.MIC has envisioned creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in these campuses. The primary mandate of Innovation Cell is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by exposing them to new ideas and processes resulting in innovative activities in their formative years fostered through Network of Innovation clubs in Higher Educational Institutions. The major programs that MIC is planning to organize in near future are:

  • Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2020
  • Institution Innovation Councils (IIC).
  • Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA).
  • National Innovation and Start-up Policy for Students and Faculties.

Oriental College of Technology Institutions Innovation Council(OCT-IIC)

Under the guidance of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) at Oriental College of Technology was established in the academic year 2018-2019 .The innovation and entrepreneurship promotion and support programs are orgainsed to ensure round the year activities in campus for effective engagement, learning and practicing innovation and entrepreneurship among student and faculty community. Ideally, Institution Innovation Council is a faculty led but student centric body formed by the institute with active representation of entrepreneurial faculties, students and expert’s representations from regional ecosystem enablers, pre-incubation and incubation centres within and outside the institute.

Objective
  • To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bound fashion.
  • Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
  • To organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
  • Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
  • Organize Hackathons, idea competition, mini-challenges etc. with the involvement of industries.

1 Welcome of all IIC members Prof. Roopali Soni (President, IIC) welcomed all internal and external IIC members.
2 Briefing about objective and scope of IIC IIC president briefed the council about objective and scope of IIC.
3 Discussion on National Annual Calendar (Quarter-I and II Plan) IIC president presented Quarter-I & II plan. Council approved the plan and suggested additional activities for IIC. She discussed in the meeting that IIC is much linked with Innovation and Entrepreneurship and thereby the Council members were encouraged to do projects, conduct Seminars / Conferences that insist on Innovation and Innovations coupled with Entrepreneurship. She asked the faculty coordinators to arrange the events in their respective allotted domain.
4 Discussion on IIC Activities Dr K.K. Dwivedi, Director, OCT, motivated the faculty to identify a focus group of students to have a continuous assessment of the activities of IIC. Further, the he asked the HODs to give prime importance to IIC Activities so as to have tangible proofs to upload. He also noted that Field visits, which is one of the major programmes under IIC, could be made to the nearby villages. He also noted that the students have focus on innovation, entrepreneurial and IPR activities
5 Discussion on Chhatra Vishwakarma Award and Innovation challenge Dr K.K. Dwivedi Director, OCT shared the objective of students for various competitions such as MoE Innovation Challange,Chhatra Vishwakarma Award 2020, Smart India Hakathon, 2021.
6 Discussion about Innovation activities in the Institute Prof. Syed Ramiz Ali, Innovation Activity Coordinator, discusses about the Innovation related activities conducted in last academic session.
7 Discussion on forming IPR Policy Dr.. Shivali Verma has been assigned the responsibility of IPR Policy for IIC. She will be presenting the same for councils (Commercials) approval in next IIC meeting
8 Inputs by External – Member Mr.Rajesh Rai briefed the council about career opportunities in IT sector for students.
9 Vote of thanks. Dr. Rajesh Boghey (Vice President, IIC) conclude the meeting and proposed vote of thanks.
